WATCH & LISTEN: Isolation entertainment

Of course with everything as it is at present, live music will not be possible for some time. But with many artists, labels and promoters still finding ways to share and connect via music, here's a few of my favourites from the last couple of weeks or so:

  • Tim Burgess of the Charlatans is running a series of twitter listening parties, whereby you synchronise the playing of the album and watch the artists comment live, respond to questions and so on. This week there's The Libertines on Tuesday 14 April, Fontaines DC and Sleaford Mods on Thursday 16 April and The Coral on Saturday 18 April. Follow @Tim_Burgess and check out the full schedule here

  • Jarvis Cocker has also now hosted two cracking 'Domestic Disco' IG Live's, and they've delivered with Jarvis' customary charm. Each one has apparently led to a blown amp, so fingers crossed there will be another date soon. Keep an eye on @jarvisbransoncocker on Instagram

  • Other favourite live streams so far have been Cardinal Sessions, which have featured Eliza Shaddad, Ezra Ferman and Arlo Parks and those from DIY, which have featured Baxter Dury, Talk Show and Sports Team. Melt Yourself Down have also hosted some good chats and this week host This Is The Kit (Monday 14 April) and Ghostpoet (Wednesday 15 April). All are streamed via Instagram.

  • On the music related podcasts front, you can't go far wrong with Rough Trade Edit. Recent guests have also included Porridge Radio, Baxter Dury and XL records' Richard Russel.

  • To mark the upcoming 10th anniversary of its release, The National have made the film documenting their performance of the album live at Brooklyn Academy of Music in 2010. Watch it here

  • Radiohead have made Live From A Tent in Dublin, their live performance from 2000 at Punchestown Racecourse, Ireland available via their YouTube They have also recently created an online public library sharing artwork, photos and videos for each of their albums

  • Following the cancellation of SXSW, and before lockdown, BBC Introducing and its partners recorded a series of live performance - The BME Sessions. It includes the excellent Porridge Radio, Arlo Parks, KOKOROKO, Liz Lawrence and Jordan Mackampa. Watch them all here

And of course you can find all the normal new music recommendations on this blog over the coming weeks, as well as having a listen via Happy on the Inside Weekly playlist
